In a bizarre turn of events, a pod of Orcas (Killer Whales) was seen repeatedly attacking a leisure boat, off the coast of Portugal. The pot kept ramming from underneath eventually the boat. A crack in the rudder due being repeated being struck by the ace predators, send the water gushing inside the boat, eventually sinking it. The terrifying visuals of up to four killer
whales attacking the boat, were captured by another boat in the vicinity.

The sunken yacht, named Oceanview, belongs to the Nautic Squad, a sailing based in Oeiras. There were five tourists onboard when the attack happened on Saturday afternoon. Luckily there was no loss of life, and all people onboard were successfully rescued. According to Portuguese coastguard officials, the sinking occurred approximately five nautical miles (9km) from the beach at Fonte da Telha, just south of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon. The first boat sent a distress call to the Portugues National Maritime Authority at 12.30 pm. Ironically, the same pod of killer whales attacked another boat with four people on board.
This boat too sent an SOS to the authorities for rescue. All people onboard this boat were saved as well. The Mediterranean Sea has been witnessing a spurt in aggressive behaviour of the killer whales. Sailors navigating along the Iberian coast revealed that orca attacks happen every year “in the exact same stretch”. Experts believe that these attacks from the Orcas stem out of boredom.
