Miami based Royal Caribbean has pushed the limits further by unveiling ‘Legend of the Seas’, the world’s largest cruise ship. Weighing a staggering 2,50,800 tons, the cruise ship was floated at Finland’s Meyer Turku shipyard on earlier this week. It is the third vessel of the Icon-class line of Royal Caribbean and outweighs the previous two sister ships Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas which were launched in 2022 and 2024 respectively by more than 2100 tons.

This generation of vessels are massive in terms of their size and scope. Legend of the Seas is said to be two and a half times larger than US Navy’s latest nuclear-powered aircraft carrier-USS Gerald R. Ford, and five and a half times the size of the ill-fated Titanic. The ship is in making since October 2024 and is expected to make its maiden voyage in Summer of 2026. Starting August 2026, Royal Caribbean is taking booking for Legend of the Seas.
